i know, i know, it's been a while since i've updated.... sorry about that. last week i was as sick as a dog and couldn't really do much of anything. it was just a head cold (runny nose, watery eyes, sinus congestion, etc.) but it wiped me out completely. it didn't help that i wasn't getting any sleep at night either. caleb was going through something (his doctor said he may be teething) and was waking up every 1-2 hours at night. so the sleepless nights combined with the cold really took it's toll on me. on friday night i finally got a solid 5 hour block of sleep and i woke up feeling like i could run a mile. well, maybe not a mile but i could definitely tell a huge difference in the way i was feeling. by sunday i was 90% better and now i'm fine. caleb isn't waking up as much either, which is nice for both of us. but he's still waking up at least once in the middle of the night. for a long time he was sleeping throughout the night for a good 9-10 hours and i naively thought it would just continue to be that way forever. but for whatever reason, whether it be teething or something else, he is now waking up around 3am every night. luckily he just wants to nurse for a while and will go back to sleep but i will never again take a full night's sleep for granted!
the 4th of july was pretty uneventful (i was still feeling sick at that point) but was still a nice day. we had a BBQ at my parents' house and i took a nap while john and my parents played with the baby. i meant to take pictures but i forgot to bring my camera. we didn't make it to the fireworks this year but that's ok since caleb's too young to enjoy them. next year i'm sure we'll be out there though.
anyway, back to the teething thing... you can see caleb's bottom incisors through his gums. they're not popping through but you can see them and i'm sure they're causing him some pain. he is a drool monster. my chunky monkey drool monster. he won't take a pacifier at all anymore. he sucks on his fingers and puts everything in his mouth. he's also starting to really interact with his toys now. and man, does this little boy love to jump! he just goes to town in his jumperoo. any time you hold him up he wants to jump in your arms. and he has such a sweet personality. he is my perfect little monkey.

Poor babies! I'm sure he really misses his sleep too. What worked for Brixie Lee when she was teething was the Baby Safe Feeder (http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2404768). We got ours at BabiesRUs, but I've seen them at Target too. I would put a frozen peach in it and she would go crazy! Ice cold rags were great too. I'm sure you'll both find something that will work for you soon.
Ahh...sleep is such a precious commodity when you don't get any! ;-) We're about to relearn that lesson. I'm glad you both are feeling better, and it's about time to get together for dinner again! Then we can introduce you guys to Katie.
